The changing economic climate prompted Northfield to look around for new areas of business to expand into.
The firm already offered comprehensive and specialist tax and accounting advice but they were keen to find ways to provide a more value-added service to their existing customer base – and move into an area that could provide real growth.
How did Sage training help?
Northfield are now developing a training arm of their business. By working more closely with Sage they have been able to offer clients software advice, installation and ongoing training in what is proving to be a lucrative partnership.
The practice’s employees now attend regular Sage Training Days and have all achieved Sage Level 3 accreditation – allowing them to offer expert help to all of their clients.
As part of this improved overall service, they are also making greater use of Client Manager – a product that allows them to run accounts on a company’s behalf. If there are problems, they can make use of its parallel working function – allowing them to troubleshoot while the client continues making transactions.
As Paul explains, "Some people will always want us to just take information and prepare the accounts for them, but increasingly we could see that clients wanted us to advise about software and then train them to use it. Working with Sage has allowed us to formalise our experience and training so that we can do that effectively.
