Sage software MD reveals how and why he cut their CO2
emissions
The carbon emissions issue has never
been more critical for businesses, for two reasons. Firstly, if you
wish to recruit and retain the best talent out there, then you need
to give your people every assurance that as a business you are
doing your best for the environment. Secondly, saving energy saves
money – so there’s a practical business benefit too.

CRM and
the recovery: How to boost your prospects
Everybody knows how to get out of the recession – it’s easy. You
just hang on to your customers and get them to buy more. Oh yes,
and you also go out and find a lot more customers. And then you
give them all terrific service so they never think of deserting
you. And, of course, you do that without letting costs go through
the roof.

Online filing drives strong IT investment
The
majority of UK accountancy practices have made large investments in
their IT infrastructure in order to support the industry’s move
towards online filing. Yet most accountants in practice (AiPs) need
to know more if they are to take advantage of the efficiency
benefits that iXBRL offers, according to the latest Pulse survey
from business software and services provider Sage (UK) Limited.
Accountants uneducated in iXBRL
Although two
thirds of accountants in practice have made or are planning to make
significant changes to their IT or business processes in order to
meet iXBRL requirements for online filing, seven out of ten said
they didn’t know enough about the benefits it can deliver,
according to the latest Pulse survey from Sage (UK) Limited.

Most entrepreneurs have built-in resilience, says Matt Forrest,
head of commercial marketing in Sage’s small business division. He
points out that financial forecasting and planning depends on

that option?

Beware perils of life after recession
Many small firms are caught in a dilemma. If the economy dips
again, they will struggle to grow sales, get paid on time and keep
trading. Yet if the economy recovers, their chance of failure
actually increases. More firms fail coming out of recession than
going into it as working capital is stretched to breaking point.
