Updated: Sage Payroll v10 Lifecycle
statement
Due to legislative changes, we've updated
the Sage Payroll v10 Lifecycle Statement.
Software Lifecycle Statement: Sage Payroll
Version 10
From 1 October 2006, Sage (UK) Limited ("Sage") adopted a policy
to formalise its procedure of withdrawing support for software
versions that are a minimum of five versions behind the latest
release.
What is our Software Lifecycle Statement?
A Software Lifecycle Statement is just that – a statement about
the lifecycle of software. In our Software Lifecycle Statement, we
state that Sage will no longer provide technical support for
specific versions of Sage software, including upgrades and
conversion routes to future software releases and licence only
upgrades to the same version.
The Software Lifecycle Statement also provides a withdrawal of
support date. This is the date after which a new SageCover contract
cannot be purchased or an existing contract renewed for the version
of the software indicated in the statement.
Which version does this apply to?
Sage will apply the Software Lifecycle policy from 6 April 2008
to Sage Payroll Version 10.xx.
Why are we doing this?
We constantly work to improve our software in line with customer
feedback, developments in technology and legal requirements. We
believe that using the latest software is the best way for us to
help you run your business effectively. By concentrating our
resources on looking forward, we can help your business move
forward too.
We also want to ensure that we continue to offer the best level
of support for our software that we can. We want our customers to
be able to reach technical experts with the right level of
knowledge to answer your questions quickly. That means continuous
investment in training and resources.
When will support be withdrawn?
Support will be withdrawn for Sage Payroll version 10 as
follows:
- You will not be able to buy a new SageCover contract for Sage
Payroll version 10 on or after 6 April 2008.
- Customers whose existing annual SageCover contract expires on
or before 6 April 2008 may renew their contract for one further
year.
- Customers whose existing annual SageCover contract expires
after 6 April 2008 may renew their contract on a pro-rata basis
until 5 April 2009.
- All technical support for Sage Payroll version 10.xx will end
on 5 April 2009.
- We will continue to offer access to Ask Sage articles that help
you use Sage Payroll Version 10 for one year after mainstream
support is withdrawn on 5 April 2009, but you should be aware that
we will not be updating or adding any new articles related to this
version of software to this resource.
What this means for you
This doesn't mean that your software will stop working. You can
still continue to use it. It's just no longer practical for us to
continue offering support, updates and upgrades.
From 5 April 2009, we won't be able to answer any questions you
have about Sage Payroll version 10 and we will not be sending out
legislative updates for your software for next year's Payroll Year
End.
Installing a Payroll Year End update is the best way to enter
updates to comply with new legislation, however you can still make
the changes manually.*
From 30 June 2008, all upgrade pricing for this version will be
removed.** If you wish to upgrade after this date, the full RSP
will be charged. Alternatively, you can purchase SageCover
Extra.
From 5 April 2009, you will not be able to upgrade this version
of software. This means that in the future, if you choose to buy a
new version of your software, your data will need to be transferred
manually.
For further information about this statement and details
on how to upgrade your current software, please call Sage on 0800
33 66 33.
* Payroll legislation changes from year to
year depending upon Government requirements and consequently Sage
is unable to guarantee that all the relevant changes can be made
manually
** Also applies to license only upgrades
