Software Lifecycle Statement: Sage Line 50
and Instant Accounts Version 10
From 1 October 2006, Sage (UK) Limited (Sage) adopted a policy
to formalise our procedure of withdrawing support for software
versions that are a minimum of five versions behind the latest
release.
What is our Software Lifecycle
Statement?
A Software Lifecycle Statement is just that – a statement about
the lifecycle of software. In our Software Lifecycle Statement, we
state that Sage will no longer provide technical support for
specific versions of Sage software, including upgrades and
conversion routes to future software releases and licence only
upgrades to the same version.
The Software Lifecycle Statement also provides a withdrawal of
support date. This is the date after which a new SageCover contract
cannot be purchased or an existing contract renewed for the version
of the software indicated in the statement.
Which version does this apply to?
We will apply the Software Lifecycle policy from1 May
2008 to Sage Line 50 and Instant Accounts version 10.
Why are we doing this?
We constantly work to improve our software in line with customer
feedback, developments in technology and legal requirements. We
believe that using the latest software is the best way for us to
help you run your business effectively. By concentrating our
resources on looking forward, we can help your business move
forward too.
We also want to ensure that we continue to offer the best level
of support for our software that we can. We want our customers to
be able to reach technical experts with the right level of
knowledge to answer your questions quickly. That means continuous
investment in training and resources.
When will support be withdrawn?
Support will be withdrawn for Sage Line 50 and Instant Accounts
version 10 as follows:
- You will not be able to buy a new SageCover contract for Sage
Line 50 or Instant Accounts version 10 on or after 1st May
2008.
- Customers whose existing annual SageCover contract expires
before 30 September 2009 may renew their contract for one further
year.
- Customers whose existing annual SageCover contract expires on
or after 30 September 2009 will be offered no further support or
renewal contracts.
- All technical support for Sage Line 50 and Instant Accounts
version 10.xx will end on 30 September 2010.
What this means for you
This doesn't mean that your software will stop working. You can
still continue to use it. It's just no longer practical for us to
continue offering support, updates and upgrades.
From 30 September 2010, we won’t be able to answer any questions
you have about Sage Line 50 or Instant Accounts version 10.
From 31 July 2008, all upgrade pricing for this version will be
removed.* If you wish to upgrade after this date, the full RSP will
be charged. Alternatively, you can purchase SageCover Extra.
From 30 September 2010, you may not be able to directly upgrade
this version to the latest version of software. This means that in
the future, if you choose to buy a new version of your software,
your data may need to be transferred manually.
For further information about this statement and details on how
to upgrade your current software, please call us on 0800 33 66

*Also applies to license only upgrades
