Getting started with your Sage software

When I buy and install software I like to have a booklet or guide to follow. It gives me the extra confidence that I’m doing the right thing.

When we talked to our customers they said that they felt the same and that they wanted something more detailed than basic installation steps to get them up and running.

A couple of years ago we asked our customers what they wanted to receive with their software. You said that you wanted something that was more than just an installation guide. So we created a Getting Started Guide: a slim-line user guide supplied with the software in the DVD case. Getting Started Guides are designed to help you install the software, set up the basics and start processing and reporting as quickly as possible.

Sage 50 Accounts Getting Started Guide

Everything you need to get up and running is available at http://www.sage.co.uk/welcome

We know that guides and instructions are easily misplaced, so to support the Getting Started Guides we’ve also published more support material online at the new Welcome site, so don’t worry if your guide is misplaced, everything you need to get up and running is also available at http://www.sage.co.uk/welcome

Getting Started Guides have been provided in our accounts and payroll software for several years now and we recently asked you what you thought about them.

Over half of the people we asked used the guides, and 87% of those people used them as a step by step guide to installation. More than 70% also used the guides to look at new features as well as common tasks and routines.

I help to write the guides for Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Instant Accounts and I’d love to hear from you to find out what you think:

  • What did you like?
  • What should be improved?
  • What wasn’t needed?

We want to make sure that installing and using your software is as straightforward as possible so let me know by adding a comment below, or emailing me at andy.rickeard@sage.com
