Partnerships release - Sage Taxation
v11.01
Update on Sage Taxation release
schedule
We'd like to advise you of a change to the release schedule
for Sage Taxation v11.01.
Although we have already received HMRC approval for both
Personal and recently Partnership on-line filing, we have also made
some additional important changes to the software in response to
feedback from our customers on our earlier release, v11.0.
As a result we have had to revise our release schedule to allow
time for our rigorous quality assurance procedures and ensure the
software you receive is of the highest standard.
This means that v11.01 will now be available for download on
Friday 20 June 2008.
Your CD will also be despatched week commencing 23 June
2008.
More information on new features of v11.01 and the additional
changes we have made can be found in the Factsheet below.
Subsequent releases
Alongside the work to get v11.01 to you as soon as possible, we
are continuing to work on subsequent releases to provide you
with:
- SA900 tax return for trusts to enable filing either online or
on paper using Trust Tax
- Changes to reflect Capital Allowance legislations (subject to
Finance Act 2008)
- Compliance functionality not included in earlier releases
We will write to you again as soon as we have more
information.
We would like to apologise again for any inconvenience
caused by the phased approach to the release, and for the revision
to the timescales we have previously communicated.
Ideally we would have released all compliance changes in readiness
for the new tax year but unfortunately doing so would have
compromised the quality of the software.
If you have any questions on the release schedule or need any
more information on Sage Taxation, please contact either the
support desk on 0845 111 11 11 or the product
manager, Andy Laver, at andrew.laver@sage.com.
Sage Taxation v11.01 Factsheet
Sage Taxation v11.01 will enable you to:
- Post Partnership financial information from Sage Business Tax
to Partnership Tax
- Calculate the allocation of profit for the individual
partners
- Import information from accounts production software
- Prepare the SA800 series of forms for Partnerships for year to
5th April 2008
- Post Partners’ financial information from Partnership Tax to
Personal Tax to complete the Partnership schedule
(SA104S/SA104F)
- Validate the information on the forms as per HMRC validation
rules
- Print the forms that can then be submitted to HMRC
- Submit the forms online
In addition Sage Taxation v11.01 addresses some of the concerns our
customers have highlighted in Sage Taxation v11, including:
- Correcting the Employers reference on the Employment
Supplementary Pages (SA102)
The Employers Reference
on the Employment Supplementary Pages (SA102) was being incorrectly
completed with an additional / in the reference.
For some references this could have meant that the end digit would
not have printed on the form.
- Correcting an “Unrecoverable Error” when viewing the
tax return on screen
In some circumstances when the tax return was displayed on the
screen you would get the message "Unrecoverable Error" and the
software would then exit. We have found and resolved a common cause
for this problem.
- Removing the additional lines for Van Fuel Benefit in
the Employment Data Entry Screen
In the Employment data entry screen some customers would see
repeated lines for Van Fuel Benefit. These additional entries were
also found to be the reason that some updates of the software
failed. The additional lines will be removed.
- Stopping the software waiting for a response from HMRC
on returns submitted for 2007
If a return for year to
5th April 2007 had been previously submitted online but a response
not yet received, the software would continue to wait for a
response for the old returns when any further returns were
submitted.
At this stage HMRC will not issue responses for these 2007 returns
so we have stopped the software waiting for one.
- Unable to complete online submission of a tax
return
During the preparation and online submission of the tax return we
carry out several checks at different stages.
In some circumstances we have found that one of these checks would
fail and prevent the final submission with a message that the “IR
Mark has changed”. A common cause of this problem has been
resolved.
- Improving speed of printing a tax return
The speed of printing can be affected both by the computer and
printer being used. However we are aware that some customers are
experiencing problems with slow printing.
We have added an option to allow you to print a lower quality tax
return that will improve the speed of printing.
We would like to thank those customers who have highlighted
these issues to us. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us to
continually improve our software for the benefit of all our
customers
