Exchange Difference Accounts

The option Exchange Difference Accounts (nl_exch_diff) allows you to allocate control accounts for each currency's exchange differences.

Exchange difference accounts can be set up to analyse exchange differences that occur when the transactions are revalued and to hold the revaluation gains and losses for both the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts. These accounts can be analysed by transaction currency, posting code, or a combination of account code and currency, cost centre and currency, or posting code and currency.

Exchange difference postings can be summarised in one of the following ways:

  • A transaction currency code. (NLEXCHMETH = 1)
  • A cost centre code and a transaction currency code. (NLEXCHMETH = 2)
  • A posting code and a transaction currency code. (NLEXCHMETH = 3)
  • An account type and a transaction currency code. (NLEXCHMETH = 4)
  • A posting code. (NLEXCHMETH = 5)
