Wouldn’t it be useful if your favourite websites delivered the latest
information directly to you without the need for you to even open your internet
browser? RSS is a popular service which does just that.
RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’ or ‘Rich Site Summary’ and a typical
RSS feed contains article headlines, links and descriptions that are
automatically updated as the website is updated.
By using an RSS reader, or news reader, you are kept informed whenever areas of
websites which are of interest to you are updated.
How can I use RSS?
To be able to use RSS you simply need to download and install an RSS reader, of
which there are a wide range freely available from the internet such as
RssReader or FeedReader.
Please note that these products are not recommended, produced or supported
by Sage, therefore please verify yourself whether they are suitable for your
own use.
How can I sign up to RSS feeds from Sage?
With your chosen RSS reader downloaded and installed, all you need to do is
decide which areas of the website are of particular interest to you.
For example, if you would like to be notified about the release of updates for
your Sage Line 50 software, simply visit the Line 50 updates page at
http://www.sage.co.uk/Updates/Line50.aspx and look for the orange RSS
icon.
If you click the icon you can subscribe to the feed by either dragging the RSS
updates URL http://www.sage.co.uk/rss/line50.xml
into your news reader or by cutting and pasting it into your RSS reader as a
new feed.
